SENIOR CATEGORY MANAGER

For one of our clients – an international retail organization, we are searching for an experienced professional for the position of SENIOR CATEGORY MANAGER.

The Mission:
  • Provides leadership and direction in the categories under management, including supply market management and development, strategic planning and execution, and contract and risk management activities, to meet business needs.
Main Responsibilities:     
  • Develops and implements the category and vendor strategy in line with the global corporate strategy
  • Makes every effort, within the scope of its competence, to achieve the set goals of achieving turnover, profit, stock availability and capital movement
  • Predicts and prepares corrective measures to reach the budget in terms of sales, profit, stock availability
  • Establishes strong relationships with suppliers, while monitoring the performance and profitability of suppliers in their category
  • Prepares and conducts negotiations
  • Plans and implements promotions
  • Plans and execute imports for deliveries and exports to customers
  • Applies pricing alterations, according to the defined procedures and the market situation
  • Reviews the category product range annually or more often if necessary
  • Organizes the product range based on customer needs and market trends – at least once a year in each of the assortment groups
  • Develops of own brand products, consistent with brand positioning and quality control
  • Develops and plans merchandising, where there are planning tools and merchandising processes, makes ongoing forecasts for stock availability and sales
  • Performs regular studies of competitors on the wholesale and retail markets to provide competitive purchase and sales prices
Experience required:
  • At least five years of experience in the field of category management (buying, purchasing) in state-of-art retail organization
  • Other relevant experience in FMCG sales or retail is appreciated
  • Experience in international companies and previous international exposure will be considered as strong advantage
Competencies and skills:
  • University degree in Management, Economics, or another relevant field
  • Superior supplier negotiation skills
  • English or German language skills
